paul reads!

If you want to see what Paul Glennon (Technical Liaison, Cognos Metrics Manager by day; scrivener by night) gets up to in his spare time, check out the Future of Fiction event at the National Library of Canada, sponsored by the Canadian Author's Association.

Paul will be be reading from his new book, "A Frame For Frames" at this event, on Tuesday, October 28 at 8 PM.

Here's are some cool things you can do to prepare yourself for the experience:

1. Purchase Paul's first collection of short stories. It's called "How Did You Sleep?"

2. Read a review of "How Did You Sleep?"

3. Read an interview with Paul about How Did You Sleep?, among other things.

What's it like to attend a reading? Well, if you haven't been to one, think kindergarden storytime / coffeehouse crowd / adult refreshments. Not 100 percent sure that the National Library will do it up with pints and red wine, but there's always that possibility. And don't forget, just as chicks dig the long ball, they dig the writer types, so you've got that going for you. Which is nice.

wallpaper for windows

Wallpaper for windows? Yes, wallpaper for windows. If you have one of them bigass windows that you just don't know how to cover, and your neighbor's are starting to complain about your wanton nakiedity, check out this low cost, cool effect solution.

Wallpaper for windows.

Who knew?

(Aside from the people who make, sell, and have used wallpaper for windows that is...)

I'm going with the "frosted" solution. No silly flowers or pebbles for me.

aquafina water

Not only is aquafina water tasty, but the big mouth on the 1 litre bottle makes refilling it from the office water cooler a snap!

I wonder if they use that differentiator in their marketing spins. Wonder no more.

i don't want to go in those woods ever again!

Martine and I took the kids to Saunder's Farm on Saturday. While we didn't make it through the haunted house, we did make it the full way around the haunted hay ride. We were just steps into the haunted house when Matthew told me to turn around and get out - it was too dark and scary. It did look pretty intense, and I was hoping he'd tell me to turn us around as I wasn't keen on traumatizing the kid, at least not too severely.

We did however take in the haunted hay ride, which was a lot of fun. Matt never seemed too upset or freaked with what was going on, but at then end of it, I asked him how he liked the ride, to which he replied, "I don't want to go in those woods ever again, it's too spooky!" Then I asked him if he had fun, to which he laughed and said "Yes!" So, I asked him if he wanted to take the hay ride again.

We went to the directly to the mazes.

hoof hearted

Hoof Hearted. It's the name of a race horse. Try saying it outloud, for all around you to hear. That's jokes!

it's this sort of stuff that makes me shudder...

"Scientists think universe shaped like soccer ball"
So, if the Universe is shaped like a soccer ball and is finite, what the heck is on the other side? Other universes of in the shape of assorted sporting balls? This sort of theory only fuels notions of alternate universes where our dopplegangers live the lives we actually wish we were living. Or something. I have to stop thinking about this because I may be freaking myself out.

Quiet Time

Not much to say this week. Rather mundane around here. Perhaps it has something to do with the weather.

More likely however, I think it has something to do with the general lack of energy I have had since last week's bout with food poisoning. However, I forced myself to hockey yesterday, and to the gym today, and am feeling better for it.

Today is the provincial election. I haven't really budgeted any time to go to the polls, but I should do my civic duty.
